Richard Benno Adam

Richard Benno Adam was a well-known and sought-after German portrait and horse painter and graphic artist. An important equestrian sports painter, he was the great-grandson of painter Albrecht Adam. He studied in Munich with Nicolas Gysis at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, with Sigmund Strähuber and Ludwig von Langenmantel (1854-1922), and in the private school run by Heinrich Knirr (b 1862). Between 1892 and 1894 he studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe.
