Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy was born in Milan Italy on April 19, 1864. The Russian artist went to England at an early age to paint and became a portrait painter of some renown. In 1894 he was introduced to Amelie Rives (by Oscar Wilde) and they were married two years later. They lived together for approximately 40 years at Castle Hill. Pierre died on August 25, 1936 and is buried in the family cemetery.
