Korneli Szlegel was a Polish landscape painter and art critic, representative of the Munich school.
He studied painting with Charles Schweikart in Lviv, continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1836. In January 1842 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he was a student of Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld and Wilhelm von Kaulbach.
He painted historical and genre scenes, as well as many portraits (including miniatures ). He also painted copies of old masters' paintings.
