Julius Arthur Thiele was a German animal painter.
Thiele studied from 1856 to 1860 at the Dresden Art Academy under Ludwig Richter, from 1861 to 1864 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Julius Hübner and from 1868 to 1872 in Düsseldorf under the animal painter Christian Kröner.
Thiele married in 1882 and moved to Vienna, a few years later he moved to Munich, where he spent the rest of his life. He was a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative .
