Joseph-Nicolas Jouy was a French Painter, etcher, lithographer, and draughtsman. Born in Paris, resident of Montmartre. Studied with Ingres at the EcBA Paris, from 1824; Unsuccessful entry in the Prix de Rome, 1834; Mostly engaged with official commissions, employing an academic style. Works include history paintings, portraits, and religious scenes in oil, decorating both sacred and secular
