John Insco Williams

American, 1813 - 1873

Born in 1813, Williams was a painter in Richmond, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio well known for portraits and landscapes and panoramas. In Indiana during the 1830s, he traveled as an itinerant portrait painter. After studying painting in Philadelphia with Thomas Sully, he taught painting in Cincinnati during the 1860s. He died in 1873.
