Johanna Marie Dill-Malburg (Hungarian, 1860 - 1944)
Johanna Malburg was a German-Hungarian landscape and still life painter. She received her training at the Kunstgewerbeschule des Museums für Kunst und Industrie Wien, and later with renowned landscape painters such as Felix Bürgers (1870-1934) and Adolf Hölzel (1853-1934).
Her second marriage was to the painter Ludwig Dill (1848-1940), who helped shape her later artistic work. With its gentle, atmospheric mood, the painting on display is therefore among other works by the Dachau School and artists' colony.
