Johann Wilhelm Jankowski was a vedute painter of Bohemian-Austrian descent.
There is very little credible information about him in the art historical reference works. In Heinrich Fuchs' work it says “Active in Austria and Bohemia around 1825 to 1861”, which indicates a date of birth around 1800.
Jankowski created dozens of vedute pictures, mostly with a water surface in the center or foreground of the picture. In the case of some of the pictures, they are probably fantasy landscapes.
