


Johann Heinrich Schilbach was a German Painter and printmaker. He studied with Ernst Fries (q.v.) in Rome and also knew Ludwig Richter; became court artist in Darmstadt in 1828. Died in Darmstadt.
Johann Heinrich Schilbach belongs to the generation of younger Romantics who took a long time to emerge from the shadow of the more intellectually involved Early Romantics. He dedicated his work exclusively to landscape paintings and drawings.
