Follow

The Belgian painter J.B. De Roy was son of an art dealer. After a course at the art academy in Brussels, he traveled through the Netherlands for a while. He specialized in painting landscapes and livestock. It is said that Paulus Potter was his great example, whose level he wanted to match. Flower still lifes from De Roys hand are also known. His paintings were much appreciated for their style and subject choice; he received numerous awards and his work has been included in various museum collections.
