Jan rytíř Skramlík was a Czech painter and opera singer (member of the National Theater).
Jan Skramlík was born in Prague and came from an Old Prague family. His father Emilián Skramlík was a businessman and communal politician. In the years 1876-1878 he studied at the Prague Academy of Painting. He then moved to Munich for 8 years , where he studied at the Academy with Professor Wilhelm Lindenschmidt (1829-1895).
Around 1886 he went to Paris, where he met Václav Brožík. When Brožík returned to his homeland as a professor at the Prague Academy of Painting, Skramlík became his pupil. He painted for many years in his studio.
Jan rytíř Skramlík died in Prague on September 6, 1936 and is buried in the Olšany cemeteries.
