Landscape painter James Forrester was born in 1729 inn Ireland. He had a short career as a painter in Dublin, working with the Society's School of Drawing. James then moved to Rome in 1755, where he spent the last 20 years of his life. James traveled extensively in Italy to familiarize himself with the landscape. He is best known for his vast romantic landscapes depicting scenes of idyllic pastoral life.
