Jakob Maurer was a German landscape painter.
Maurer studied at the Städel Art Institute and was a student of the painter Jakob Becker there. His classmate Carl Theodor Reiffenstein also influenced his artistic development in Frankfurt am Main. Maurer later moved to Düsseldorf, a center of painting training in Europe through the Düsseldorf Painting School, and was a private student of August Weber with Anton Burger, whose landscape painting was influenced by Johann Wilhelm Schirmer.
Maurer lived and worked in Kronberg and was a member of the Kronberg painters' colony.
Jakob Maurer died on May 2, 1887 in Kronberg at the age of over 60.
