Hugo Ungewitter was born in 1869 and died around 1944. From 1887, Hugo Ungewitter visited the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf. He received commissions from the aforementioned Academy and the Court of Berlin. From 1906, he lived in Berlin and painted mainly battle scenes. In 1913, he was appointed professor at the Court of Berlin.
His favorite subjects were nature and animal depictions, as well as military and hunting scenes, mostly in South America and Russia.
