Henri Demare (French, 1846-1888)
Henri Demare, was a cartoonist and caricaturist who contributed to numerous newspapers between the end of the Second Empire and the first decades of the Third Republic.
Henri Demare studied drawing at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After the Paris Commune in 1871, he went into exile in Vienna. On his return, he worked with André Gill on Les Hommes d'aujourd'hui.
