Austrian watercolor artist as well as genre and veduta painter Hans Gotzinger was born in 1867 in Vienna-Margareten. He was a student of the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts with Michael Rieser, Andreas Groll and Rudolf Rößler, and later master student at the Vienna Academy. Gotzinger supplied the exhibitions at the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
Many of his Viennese Vedutas served as a template for postcards that made the artist popular. He was also a member and honorary board member of the Viennese Albrecht Dürer-Bund and a member of the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft. He was awarded the title of professor by the city of Vienna, where he was active.
