Follow

Guillaume-Charles Brun was born in Montpellier France in 1825. He was a French genre and landscape painter and official Militärporträtist. In 1847 he left for Paris, where he was a student of François-Édouard Picot and Alexandre Canabel in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. That year one of his works was at the annual exhibition of the Art Academy.

In 1851 he unveiled a genre piece at the Paris Salon. He is noted for painting French street scenes of members of the working class. He also painted Low Algerian landscapes and portraits through his entire career. Brun is recorded as painting decorations in various churches, including in Villemomble. The artist passed away in Paris in 1908.
