Georges Jordic

Jordic was a French illustrator and painter, who was active in the early 20th century. He was born in 1876 in Philippeville, Algeria, and a pupil of the painters Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens. His work was exhibited during the Salon de la Société des Artistes between 1895 and 1907.
He became known for his drawings for the magazines Tartines de l'Assiette au Beurre (1901), Lectures pour Tous (1903) and L'Ouvrier (1904). He also illustrated the work of Walter Scott and the 'Tales of Hoffmann'. Jordic made picture stories for magazines like Le Petit Journal Illustré de la Jeunesse (1904), L'Echo du Noël (1906) and L'Etoile Noëliste (1914). The artist was killed at the front during World War I.
