Follow

Friedrich Frank was an Austrian watercolorist and vedute painter.

Frank studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. After graduating, he founded a studio for theater painting in Vienna together with Hermann Burghart.

From 1914 to 1918, he was deployed as a war painter on the Italian front. In 1930/1931, he undertook study trips to Egypt and Palestine.

In 1935, he was commissioned to decorate the Romanian pavilion at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris.

During the Second World War, he worked in his studio in Freilassing near Salzburg. A bomb hit destroyed many of his works there.

Friedrich Frank was mainly concerned with veduta painting and also created landscapes. He also visited Italy on his study trips.
