Follow

Eugenie Bandell was born in Frankfurt. At the latest from 1887 to 1895, she was a student in Paul Andorff’s painting class at the Royal Drawing Academy in Hanau. Simultaneously, she received private lessons from the painter Georg Cornicelius. At the end of the 1890s at the Städelsche Kunstinstitut, she also learned etching from Bernhard Mannfeld. In 1899/1900, she was one of Wilhelm Trübner’s master students. He had a studio at the Städel, where he taught numerous private students of both sexes. Under his influence, Eugenie Bandell turned to painting en plein air. She received awards at an early age and was shown at several international exhibitions as well as regularly at the “Annual Exhibitions of Frankfurt Artists”. She was active in several artists’ associations, including the Frauenkunst-Verband. In March 1944, most of Eugenie Bandell’s extensive oeuvre was destroyed during a bombing raid on Frankfurt am Main.
