Ernst Christian Moser was an Austrian portrait and genre painter.
Born the son of a watchmaker, Moser studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1828 under Karl Gsellhofer, Anton Schaller, Johann Nepomuk Ender, Josef Redl, Leopold Kupelwieser, Joseph Mössmer, Sebastian Wegmayr and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller.
During his studies, Moser received various scholarships, was awarded the Gundel Prize twice and the Lampi Prize twice.
In 1840 Moser was appointed teacher at the State Drawing Academy in Graz.
He mainly dealt with portrait and genre painting, and also created history pictures.
