Emil Felix Ludwig von Gerliczy was a painter of Slovene descent.
Emil von Gerliczy was born in Wolfsbüchel Castle in Krain. He served as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army until his marriage to Baroness Louise Anna von Korff in 1897. The couple settled in Dresden, and Gerliczy studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Robert Sterl. Emil von Gerliczy became a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund and the Dresden Artists' Association. In Dresden he was in the circle of young expressionist artists like Conrad Felixmüller, Erich Heckel and Emil Nolde. In 1919 he visited Spain, Tunisia, France, Greece, Egypt and Turkey.
