As one of the largest printing and lithographic companies in the world, Courier printed all of the posters for P.T. Barnum's circus in 1887. The firm also printed most of the posters used by the Ringling Bros. circus from 1890 to 1906. In 1908, Courier’s ability to print large posters was brought to an end when a fire destroyed many of the larger presses as well as an order of $180,000 for circus advertising materials, effectively ending the firm’s ability to compete with other litho printers.
