Clovis Didier was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine. He was a student of Jean-Léon Gérôme before going on to train in the studios of Albert Glaize and Emmanuel Lansyer. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1880 and became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1899. His subjects ranged from interiors and exteriors depicting domestic life to views in Paris, Versailles and London; and landscapes along the northern coast of France, and in the Alps.
