Follow

A painter of Orientalist and genre scenes, Clemente Pujol de Guastavino began his artistic studies at the Fine Arts School in Barcelona, then moved to Paris in 1876. He became a student of Louis Cabat and Jean-Léon Gérôme and met the Orientalist painter Léon Bonnat, a friend of Gérôme. The artist signed a contract with the famous art dealer Adolphe Goupil.

Pujol de Guastavino painted genre scenes that he exhibited at the French Artists Salon from 1876 to 1905. He also made Orientalist paintings and participated in the Spanish section of the Universal Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900. In 1889, he obtained a medal of Honor for the painting "Moorish Dance".
