Carol von Bergen, born 1853 in Germany, was a well-known genre painter. Bergen studied at the Academy in Munich from 1878, where he became a permanent resident. From 1889, Carl von Bergen exhibited regularly in the Munich Glass Palace. Carol von Bergen is best known for his portraits of children and cheerful "Bach idylls" with peasant children and maids.
