Alexander Buzna

Alexander Buzna was a Slovak priest of Zemian origin and a painter.

He studied at the grammar school in Bratislava and graduated in theology in Esztergom. In 1892 he was ordained a priest. Later he studied painting at art academies in Budapest, Vienna and Rome.

His work is dominated by oil paintings, he was a prolific portrait painter and also devoted himself to landscape painting. He was inspired by folklore and is the author of several paintings of Slovak costumes. He created mostly sacral works, which can be found in churches in Veľký Blahov, Podolí, Pobedim or in the village of Banka.
