Albert Rieger was an Austrian painter best known for his dark, muted landscapes of Vienna.
He was born in Trieste in 1834, and he spent his life in Vienna.
He was awarded both the Gold Austrian Medal and Great Golden Swedish-Norwegian Medal for his works.
Albert Rieger left behind an extensive oeuvre with picturesque European landscapes including alpine subjects, North Sea motifs and depictions of Italian coastlines.
The artist passed away in 1905 in Vienna, Austria.
